House For Sale

How I wish that was true. My house isn't really for sale. I am going to pretend it is though so I can declutter it. It helps me get rid of things if I ask myself, "If I moved today, would I take this with me?" I wasn't kidding when I said that I think a lot of hoarders probably started when they got back from vacation. No matter how organized I am leaving for a trip, in a mad dash before we leave the airport, I decide I just HAVE to bring something and of course, I can't find it so I tear the house apart trying to find it, leaving the house a total disaster. Add to that the suitcases full of stuff I have to put away and getting the call about Tommy and I am overwhelmed by the job of putting my house back together. I have this little fantasy in my head where I throw everything away and start over. Wouldn't it be great to get a do over? I would do things so differently when it came to the house. I want bare shelves and bare countertops and bare tables (kitchen, end or side). I would love to be a minimalist but as long as there is Target, I don't see that happening. I am having a hard time getting motivated because all I want to do is write. I didn't realize how much I missed it until I couldn't do it. I am sure that played into why I had a hard time on our vacation.

I know I rag on Leo and he really does give me so much material to use on here but there are moments when I am reminded of what a good guy he is. While we were on vacation, he tried very hard to give me little breaks. It was hard because Gia really is a "Mommy's Girl" but each day, he'd walk her around the pool until she fell asleep so I could relax. When I got upset at the airport after getting lost, he kissed me and said he was sorry even though it wasn't totally his fault. Last night, I received a frantic phone call at 10:00 from my sister. She was driving home to St. Charles from Schaumburg and her eyes started bothering her making it hard for her to see. I offered and Leo offered to go get her but she said she could make it to my house. Once here, Leo didn't even hesitate in offering to drive her home. The fact that he loves my sisters as much as I do and that he would do anything for them makes me love him even more. Our family is a tight knit one and in times like that, (though I am sorry she was having trouble) it felt good to be reminded of it.


Now I'm off to make a dent in getting ready to pretend to move. I am pretty sure there is a padded room somewhere with my name on it but whatever works, right?
