A Lovely Evening

There is a tradition that started a few years ago that I enjoy thoroughly. Actually, it started when I was pregnant with the twins so that is how far back it goes. Leo and I go to dinner or lunch with my uncle and we catch up on our lives. He is my godfather and the only son of my grandma's sister (I know technically it makes him my cousin but where we come from, he is my uncle). I love going because I love my uncle but I also love going because it is a tie to my dad and my grandparents and all the memories that go with that. I remember Christmases of the past where we would spend the night talking. At the time, I didn't fully appreciate the deep thinking questions he would ask or the "on a scale of 1-10...." questions that he was famous for. Now I love them and the discussion that comes with them. Another reason is that I find our in depth conversations informative. It's fun to discuss our family (Leo and mine) and see where Leo and I stand on certain things. Of course, for the most part, we know but it is nice to hear once in awhile. Last night I got to hear what Leo thought when he first saw me. I've asked Leo that question before and I get a "I'm not sure. I don't remember. I am sure it was that you were cute." When my uncle asked him, I finally heard what he really thought: that he knew I was the one. I love that and don't think I would have heard it if my uncle hadn't asked him. My uncle said something to me that has stuck with me and I will probably elaborate on it at some point. He said, "You think these times will go on forever and they don't." All I can say right now is that I hope that our dinners continue. Hopefully more often than every two years. It was a lovely way to spend an evening so U.R., if you are reading, thank you!
